Geography made fun
Kids love learning about new things from a very early age. They are curious about world's countries, traditions, and people's habits. Revnsburger's globe puzzles are a fun way to teahc kids about the globe, the poles, and all things geography related.
While some kids may still be unable to cope on themselves with the globe puzzle since it's not the ordinary type they are used to this is a fun family activity during which parents can explain to the kids while making the globe puzzle basic things about the Earth. They may share it has a form which is not exactly round but we prefer to use this representation for more comfort. Kids might be also interested in the fact that the Earth spins and the globe is an ideal instrument to illustrate that.
Wonderful stories may be shared while arranging the puzzle about each country. For even more fun you might choose a bigger puzzle (the smaller have 96 and the biggest has 540) to increase the time for arranging it- and make it for a week or even longer, making a continent each day (or a country if you prefer) and telling your kids about the oceans and island in them as weel as about the cultures and traditions of different societies.
Besides purely educational the globe puzzle is also good to develop fine objects manipulating skills, coordination between eyes and hands and fine motor skills as well as spacial visual perception of multi-dimensional objects. All these contribute greatly to kids intellectual development and school preparedness if the child is in his pre-school age.
Choose your globe size and have fun. You could also use the help of books and stories or typical country's tales to increase the child's involvement in the activity. There are lovely folklore and legends which you can refer to while presenting different customs and way of life all over the Earth. Use the Ravensburger globe puzzle to enlarge the kids view of the world without spending a fortune to travel to places far and away.

My youngest is 8yrs old and he has really started asking more questions about geography around the world. This would be a great way to learn where countries across the globe are. Voted up, useful and awesome...
